Beatmaker For Hip Hop and Rap - Five Things You Need to Know

,
MAKE HIP HOP BEATS :

If you want to make hip hop beats, a beatmaker is usually used to describe the software used to make those types of beats. It essentially describes a virtual drum machine which will tend to have 8, 16 or 32 tracks that are used to create incredible beats quickly for rap and hip hop. The nice thing is that although in the past expensive hardware and software was needed, in this day and age, all you need is a little heart and about thirty bucks.

Beatmaker For Hip Hop and Rap - Five Things You Need to Know

If you're interested in getting a beatmaker, the best advise I can give to someone who is new to the beat making game, is to get a beat maker that works well and doesn't take a lot of time to learn. Here are the five reasons you don't need and don't want to spend a lot when buying a beatmaker for the first time.

You're New To Making Beats:

The thing about inexpensive beatmakers, is that not only do they work well had have every feature you need to get started in one quick package, but they also don't leave you scratching your heard for three months before you finally figure out how to make a beat. The fact of the matter is that you don't want a beatmaker with a ton of bells and whistles because you won't know how to use half-of them, and the other half you don't need anyway.

It's About Having Fun:

An expensive beat maker also means you will be frustrated when trying to figure out all the plug-ins and effects that usually have a pretty high learning curve. Just enjoy yourself and have fun, and this is exactly what a cheap beatmaker will provide for you.

Plug and Play Baby:

Another nice thing about inexpensive beatmakers is that they are plug-in-play. This means you simply purchase the software, download it or use it online with their servers, and presto! you're making beats in just minutes. Just minutes! Believe me, if you buy expensive hardware and software with all the bells and whistles, there is no such thing as 'plug-n-play.' Yes it is easier than it used to be, but you'll find yourself frustrated and let's not forget that expensive beat makers require expensive computers. Not so with the inexpensive beatmaker solutions available today which you can use perfectly as long as you have a good internet connection.

The Beatmaker Basics:

A good hip hop beat only has a few simple ingredients. A bass drum, hi-hat, sneer and cymbal part. That's it. So why spend a ton of money to make this type of sound when you can spend much less and do the exact same thing. Also, the more expensive beatmakers will require some sound mastering experience, and unless you have experience with mixing hip hop beats with 8 to 16 tracks, you're going to be in for a very big surprise.

It's About Talent:

If you have musical ability and inspiration you don't need an expensive hip hop beat maker. All you need is some perspiration and some beatmaker software that won't require a crazy learning curve. This is because talent comes from within, and you can't buy talent with expensive beatmakers. This is the fifth and most important thing to remember before you break the bank on a beatmaker you may later decide you don't have the talent to use and you could have learned that by spending under fifty bucks.

Hip-Hop Music and Dance Style

,
MAKE HIP HOP BEATS :

The hip-hop culture is about twenty years old. Yes, it is more like a culture. Hip Hop is just not music it is far more than just music, lyrics and videos. There are many people, who even today think that hip-hop is just something about a Rap producers and artist.

Hip-Hop Music and Dance Style

The Hip-hop dance basically originated in New York by some young African-American and Hispanic men during the period of late 1960s, it was originated as part of the hip-hop culture of graffiti art, rap and scratch music. The hip-hop dance always keeps changing but it is essentially embraced by two different styles one is of break dance and another is body popping. The break dance you can say is a form of athletic solo in which the dancer or the performer enters in to the dance arena in a sideways motion and then breaks or dives to the floor, then spins around on his shoulders, head or buttocks and ends up with a freeze position. Body popping whereas involves a series of very fast, sharp actions those travel all through the body much in a way as robotic-looking alternations of moves and then freeze. The hip-hop dance and hip-hop music became internationally popular since late 1970s and now, it is often incorporated into theatre dance.

The main aspect of hip hop music and dancing that makes the style would be the passion for dancing as well as expressing your emotions. It is always good to have some kind of skills like technique only thing is the way you can develop the movements is just by believing in yourself and also feeling those emotions and at the same time have fun and feel the beats as well.

Hip hop is considered as a musical genre which is developed as part of the hip hop culture, and it is defined by some key stylistic components like rapping, scratching DJing, sampling, beat boxing etc. Rapping which is also referred to as MCing or even emceeing it is basically a vocal style where in the artist speaks or sings lyrically, in rhyme and in verse, usually to synthesized beat or an instrumental beats. Beats are always of about 4/4 time signature, and looping different portions of various other songs, usually done by a DJ, can form them or the producer samples it from portions of some songs. Today's modern beats mostly incorporate drum machines, synthesizers as well as live bands. Rappers write, improvise or memorize their lyrics and perform to a beat.

How to Learn Bass Guitar the Easy Way

,
MAKE HIP HOP BEATS :

Bass guitar is absolutely one of the favourite instruments to learn. This may be because the bass guitar helps lay down the beat, in much the same ways as drums but more melodically. It looks just like an electric guitar but the main differences are that it has a longer neck and only 4 strings. The strings are tuned to notes G, D, A and E. It has a solid body and frets in the same way as a six stringed guitar.

How to Learn Bass Guitar the Easy Way

A bass guitar greatly enhances the beat of a song and the harmony. Most bassists will pick their baseline according to their style. The harmony of the bass will increase and enhance the progression of chords. Harmony greatly enhances a song and indeed defines a songs emotions. From the beat perspective, a bass' beat gives a song or tune this basic element too. Again, it underlies the basic nature of the song being played and forms a fundamental role in the definition of the song, giving it heart and tempo.

In pop music a bass guitar can be seem as a very simple part of band, unless the bassist has other ideas. Just watch Mark King from Level 42. He helped make the bass guitar one of the coolest instruments to play in a group and if you have the will and the intensity a bass can be so much more. However, in reggae, hip hop and funk the bass plays a much more prominent role. Once you learn guitar bass basics you will be able to copy your heroes style and add your own traits and skills.

There are quite a few styles that you can learn when playing bass. A bass solo can sometimes overpower other melodies. In heavy metal a bassist will usually tap the strings, but in rock a solo will be performed during a break in the song. In pop and funk solos would typically be performed by slapping the strings rather than tapping. In metal and rock also the bass guitarist usually plays along with the lead guitar and vocalist giving a fuller, richer sound.

In many ways the bass is an easier instrument to learn and play than the six stringed guitar, but this instrument still needs dedication and practice. So if you want to be the next Mark King or Phil Lynott get cracking!! Remember practice, determination, fun is the key to learning bass guitar so start today, there's no time to lose.

Top 5 Mistakes Dancers Make at Auditions

,
MAKE HIP HOP BEATS :

A lot of people will at some point bang their head against something. And when it hurts, bang it again hoping that it won't hurt this time. Don't be like them. Stop making these mistakes that dancers keep making at auditions.

Top 5 Mistakes Dancers Make at Auditions

1. Not dancing how they want: If you're a dancer whose style isn't sexy but they ask for sexy, then dancing ghetto style like you're about to beat someone up won't replace what they want.

If they ask you to dance hip-hop and you're making everything light and airy like a ballerina you're not dancing how they want. If they want you to dance like you're floating and you make everything really grounded you're not giving them what they want either.

2. Not dressing how they want: Similar to the above. If they want you to dress sexy, don't walk in with pumps, baggy jeans and your punk hairstyle.

If you're unsure bring a change of outfits in your bag just in case so you're prepared and can change into another outfit to suit what they want on the day. Image is not everything but image definitely is important, make no mistake.

3. Turning up unprepared: If they asked you to prepare a routine to a particular song and you chose to do it to a different track then they're probably wondering whether you speak English okay.

If they ask you to arrive for your audition at 11:30 and you arrive at 12 they're unlikely to be impressed unless you're lucky and the audition happens to be running late (which always seems to happen when you're early).

4. Slagging off the client: You don't need to be the biggest fan but if you're auditioning for Mariah Carey's latest video and you say that you think her music is outdated and she has an annoying voice, they probably won't want you anywhere near her for fear of upsetting the diva herself.

5. Not dancing the choreography the choreographer's way: When the choreographer shows you the choreography they'll tell you the way they want it danced too. Most dancers just ignore this and dance it their own way.

If they want you to dance the choreography your own way and with your own flavour they'll tell you. Remember this is their choreography after all so they'll be casting a much more critical eye over it than any freestyle sections of the audition. If you want to do things your way, do it in the freestyle where you'll be usually free to express yourself any way you want to.

Inside the Bay Area Hyphy Movement

,
MAKE HIP HOP BEATS :

Ask people in the Bay Area what the Hyphy Movement is all about and you will get many different meanings and perspectives. So who can truly explain what it's all about?

Inside the Bay Area Hyphy Movement

In search of such a person, we heard about one emerging Hyphy artist getting ready to release a new album with guest appearances from Too Short, San Quinn, J Diggs, among others. This artist certainly tells it like it is, so we gave him a chance to explain the Hyphy movement.

Driving around the Bay Area in a custom made limousine with the words "Hyphy Train" painted across the rear window, this emerging artist calls himself Greenie. Whether he means to or not, his deep, raspy voice carries a Hyphy tone that encapsulates this Bay Area movement.

Greenie recently took a break from the studio to talk about the Hyphy movement & what rap music is missing:

Interview:
Bay Area Hyphy Movement (BAHM): From what we understand, Hyphy can be crazy dance moves or just smashing someone in the face. How would you define Hyphy?

Greenie: Hyphy as I understand it literally means hyper and fly, but really its how all da homies from the Bay get down when we listen to our Bay style music.

BAHM: Some might say the Hyphy Movement is just a fad? Can it last?

Greenie: Thats like asking is hiphop or rap a fad, hell no it aint a fad, its a lifestle/music. I think it will evolve and take different forms, but now when we refer to hyphy, we are talking bout Bay style, Bay area rap.

BAHM: What does the Hyphy movement mean to the Bay Area?

Greenie: Well, its just like I said rap/hip-hop started in Queens. It evolved took different forms. Today, the South would refer to there style of rap as crunk, the Bay would refer to its Style as hyphy. But not everyone who is from the Bay raps with a hyphy style. I for one only have three songs on my album that I would classify as "hyphy" the rest are just normal rap. E-40's last album every song was hyphy, kick drum slumping hard, beats per minute slightly sped up, and e-40 spittin somethin vicious, THATS HYPHY at its core, and everybody in the Bay is down with it so its important for the Bay in that it brings us all together.

BAHM: So tell us about the new album. What should fans expect, who are some of the guest appearances?

Greenie: First off I'd like to say that I am a huge fan of rap first before ever being an artist. The game is missing a classic element in that people are rapping whole songs and aren't saying shit. It's look what I got, whereas before you could pickup a dope record and actually learn a lot of street shit. In this album you could pick it up and learn a lot of shit about Northern California and this sick ass place we call the Bay Area. I brought several of my favorite artists from the Bay Area and LA together to make this dope album. Look for Too $hort San Quinn, J diggs, and Roscoe of the Dogg Pound, to name a few, and classic producers like One Drop Scott who has worked with Mac Dre, and Gennessee, who has a ridiculous roster.

BAHM: I heard several tracks from your latest album and they are straight Slumper. What is your favorite track, what is the album called & when is it getting released?

Greenie: My much anticipated album is due out this month however, I keep pushing it back since I just received word that Snoop Dogg is only a phone call away. The album will be named The Legend Of Chester Copperpot. My favorite track on the album would have to be "Who Drop," no one has heard it yet cause I wont let anyone listen to it. IT IS ONE OF THE BEST RAP SONGS EVER MADE!

BAHM: What can we expect in the future of Hyphy music?

Greenie: Hopefully, you will see a unified Bay where we aint at war with each other, right now shit is outta control with the violence in the rich and in the O. If we could get unified, hyphy music could really be a driving force behind rap music in general.

BAHM: What other artists should we be looking for outta Northern Cali?

Greenie: Obviously you got the San Quinn's, E-40's, keek da sneek that make our music dope. Thizz ent has a roster of sick individuals though, Bavgate, and our famous new Indian dude Haji Springer are bout to take over. Look for dem to do some big thangs in the upcoming future months.

BAHM: There have been rough times for you working on your latest album. Did you ever think about quitting the rap thing altogether? What kept you going?

Greenie: It's tough in the rap game since everybody and there mother is tryin to rap. There are times still where I'm like shit I aint making that money off this thing like I thought I would, but than another thing I've really come to realize is that I really enjoy rapping, I love it, that shit is fucken fun when you lay down something dope. Selling records these days is all bout marketing. I feel like I've surrounded myself with the right people, I've got my features up, and this is the best album I've ever done so regardless of the response I'm still happy.

BAHM: Do you like the direction that hip hop music is going, or would you like to see something different?

Greenie: I do not understand how some of this shit makes it to TV and the radio but I'm not gon hate on them for there success. Obviously they were doing something right. Hip hop will never be the same as it was since it's birth in the early eighties late seventies. Early on we were learning from each others as emcees, what sounded hot and street cred, and what not to say. Now that most shit from the street has been taught by previous emcees it's hard for an artist to express new ideas that haven't really been touched by previous rappers. So a lot of what you here is repetitive like look at the diamonds I've got, the cars, the bytches, the dope, my street life. As long as we keep rappin bout the same shit we're kinda stuck, so what I've tried to do is create shit that hasn't really been touched and try to be original as much as possible. I've also got OG'S from the rap game on the album so I can bring that original flavor of hip hop to the present. Too Short, and the Reyes brothers from Cypress Hill, are some of the artists you'll find on my record and they are some of my favorite artists of all time as well.

How to Learn Freestyle Rap Secrets to Win and Get You Signed With Great Hip Hop Beats

,
MAKE HIP HOP BEATS :

Freestyle rap is spontaneous, created on the spur of the moment with nothing scripted in advance. Literary devices, such as rhymes, metaphors and similes will be included in the best freestyle rap, as well as smooth delivery and allusions to the present surroundings and circumstances. Great rappers have great freestyling skills. In freestyling, a rapper must think on his or her feet and impress the audience with his/her verbal ability.

How to Learn Freestyle Rap Secrets to Win and Get You Signed With Great Hip Hop Beats

Step 1: Master the Basics There are three areas in a rap that you must deal with: The delivery, rhyme scheme and world play. Delivery - The delivery of your words includes the flow, cadence and tone of your voice. You must be able to follow a beat and create a rhythm. Speak clearly. Make sure you sound out all of the words. Be cool. Your choice of language needs to be fluid. Your words should literally flow as you transition between literary devices. Your distinct style as a rapper will be developed in part by your delivery.

Word Play- Your use of words will determine how original you sound. Enjoy yourself and be creative. Comparisons: Metaphorical: Comparing a pair of apparently contrasting things without use of the words like or as. Simile: Comparing a pair of things, including the terms like or as in the comparison. Pun: A comical way to use words and bring attention to words that have a double meaning, or words that sound alike but mean something different. Double entendre: Employing a double meaning in your language choice, generally with a bawdy intent. Allusion: An implicit reference to someone, somewhere, or something. Generally it refers to literary works, TV shows, movies or pop culture elements. Learning more about literary techniques and devices is very simple. Either search the Web or go to your local library and pick up a book.

Rhyme Scheme - A rhyming scheme refers to the rhythmic thread that runs through your rap. Internal rhyme: Rhyming with the middle of a line is a type of rhyme. End rhymes: rhyme which occurs at the tail end of multiple lines of verse. Half rhyme: the consonant sounds rhyme without any rhyme in the vowel sound. Multi-syllable rhymes (also called "multis"): rhyming between various syllables within a phrase or verse.A large vocabulary is needed in order for you to play with words. Start studying and use that dictionary.

Step 2: Begin - When you know the elements needed for a flowing rap, you can flex your ability. Train your ear by playing rap and hip-hop.

Compose. It is true that freestyling means that you do not have pre-written lyrics when you rap; but to improve, you must practice rhyming and word play by creating verses. If you commit to memory several groups of rhyming words, your lyrics will flow more smoothly. Eventually you will learn how to improvise rap on the fly. It is inevitable that you will make mistakes. When that happens, don't stop rapping. Don't pay it any attention or keep on going with what comes next - continue with your rhythm. Anticipate what you will say next. Think about what you are going to rhyme next, and try to keep the flow going.

Remember to avoid getting ahead of yourself since you risk losing track.

Select a topic or theme and then simply begin laying down a rap around it. Just state whatever you think of. In all likelihood, when you first begin you won't make a lot of sense, so practice alone. Your own style needs to be found and used. Do not copy other rappers directly, but use them for inspiration. Rap about things that are familiar to you. Choose any topic you'd like, remembering that your own experiences will ring truest. Hyperbole and creative license always have a place.Because you want to entertain others with your lyrics, it's okay to make them up as you go along.

Step 3: Rehearse - Rehearsing instills greater confidence while building skill. Wherever and whenever you can, just continue to rap. Rehearse alone. You will eliminate any awkwardness if you're alone. Rehearse while watching yourself in a mirror. Either in front of your friends or with your friends, practice rapping. Enjoy yourself and, at the end, ask for a frank critique.

Freestyle Rap Battles - Rap battles are a great means of rehearsing and sharpening your freestyle skills. In a freestyle rap battle, rappers are the contestants. The rapper with the best delivery, lyrics (boasts, insults and witticisms), and overall performance is the winner. Normally the crowd determines the favorite, so you must fight to get them on your side.

At online sites such as YouTube or in person, observe other rappers freestyling. A few filler lines need to be written. The fillers can take the place of your original lyrics should you forget them or freeze up. Make use of humor. Make good use of your sense of humor to get the crowd laughing. Perfect opportunities for humor are unexpected comparisons or one liners. Rap about your own world. Use anything you wish, such as individuals, encounters, events and clothes.

Rapping about your immediate surrounding shows that you are making up original verses instead of pre-recorded raps. Refer to current activities to make original allusions and play with words. Use another rapper to play off. Spin off of what your rival says, reverse it or state your refutation. You can stay with common or connected subjects.

Don't get your feelings hurt; take it all with good humor, even the insults. Some of the best freestyle learning opportunities are rap battles. Actually, you should feel free to apply freestyle battling strategies anytime you freestyle.

The Way to Freestyle Rap - Suggestions: Learn the fundamental literary methods, like rhymes, metaphors, similes as well as allusions. Take notice of your style of delivery. Memorize various rhyming words and compose emergency verses. Do not allow errors to prevent you from freestyling. If you make a mistake on a rhyme or verse, keep going and work it into your next line.

If you want your impromptu rap to be really outstanding, rap about your current environment and situations. Conclusion Freestyling lets you express yourself and improve your ability to rap.

The best rappers are masters at rapping freestyle. Showing off at live performances or rap battles are things you can do once you have good skills, but with these skills if you aspire to be a major recording artist with hip hop or dirty south beats, just make sure you get the best and most current sounding beats and your skills as a rapper on top of these great hip hop beats will have you sounding like a superstar and get you signed!

Hip Hop Beats - Leasing and Selling

,
MAKE HIP HOP BEATS :

You should always consider your future objectives, and goals as a producer before deciding to sell or lease your beats. You may produce tracks that you feel are "throw-away" beats and are probably more willing to sell these tracks to new artists. Naturally, you probably want to hold on to those beats that you feel are "hot" for an established artist or a more talented new artist.

Hip Hop Beats - Leasing and Selling

However, that "throw-away" beat may just fall into the right hands and become a hit, while your "hot" tracks might not make the album cut because the label decides to add some veteran producers to the roster to "beef-up" the album. For that reason, the decision of whether to sell or lease your beats requires you to consider several important issues - no matter how hot the beat is.

In general, when selling a beat to an artist or record label, a producer may seek to take advantage of the following income sources:

(1) Producer fees - compensation for the value of your physical work and time spent creating the beat

(2) Master purchase or "buy-out" (for ownership of your portion of the master recording containing your beat) - compensation for the right to control the use of fine master

(3) Producer royalties (paid in advance and on the back-end) - compensation for your services rendered in performing and or creating the beat, in an amount determined by the number of copies of the beat (or records that contain songs that contain the beat) that the record label sells; and

(4) Publishing - compensation for the use of your copyrighted material, including

(a) the reproduction of your beat on individual records (mechanical royalties) and (b) the public performance of your beat (i.e., air play performance royalties).

Although we will discuss these income sources in further details, at this point it is only necessary to understand them_ as -either up-front payments or back-end payments.

UP-FRONT PAYMENTS

The producer fee, amounts paid for the ownership or use of the masters, and advances against royalties are monies that a producer receives before the record label begins manufacturing and selling records/units. We call these amounts up-front payments.

SACK-END PAYMENTS

The balance of producer royalties (minus advances) and amounts representing publishing royalties are residual payments, which are made to the producer over time, following the manufacture, distribution and sale of units by a record label, on a per-unit and/or per-performance basis. In that regard, we consider royalty payments to be "back-end" compensation to the producer for his or her services in producing the beat.

With that said, when merely leasing a beat "on spec" - allowing the beat to be used by an artist without a guarantee that the beat will actually be used on an album manufactured, distributed and sold by a record company, a producer typically receives an upfront payment in the form of a production fee and/or an advance against producer royalties, but the producer still owns" or retains his rights in the beat (the master).

In leasing a beat "on spec," the artist initially pays the producer only a fraction of the production fee or advance, and the balance of the agreed fee and/or advance is paid once the artist is signed to a record deal. In other words, when leasing or selling a beat on spec, a producer is paid a portion of his up-front money in exchange for the artists Limited use of the beat.

THE "QUASI-SALE"

When agreeing what we call at-"quasi-sale" of the beat, the producer is paid his or her entire production fee* and/or other up-front-monies. The producer also sells his interest in the ' master recording of the song containing the beat to the artist or record label, and his up-front payment should include compensation for that sale. In exchange for these up-front monies, the producer will relinquish his or her right to collect back-end producer royalties, so the amount paid should reflect compensation for relinquishment of those rights as well. However, the producer will retain his or her publishing rights.

THE OUTRIGHT SALE

When a producer sells a beat "outright," the producer receives a purchase price consisting of the producer fee, the value of the masters, the current value of the producer's back-end producer royalties (including possible advances on that amount), and an additional amount for his publishing rights in the underlying composition - i.e., the producer sells his rights in the masters and the underlying compositions. While this purchase formula may look impressive, in actuality, beats are often sold outright for as little as 0.

MAKE HIP HOP BEATS :

Anyone who has access to a computer with speakers can make hip hop beats. Most people who are just starting to get into it do not know where to begin. These 5 steps will help to get you setup and you will be able to make hip hop beats in no time.

Make Hip Hop Beats in 5 Steps

1. Access to a computer with USB or Firewire ports.

Every computer these days comes with USB or Firewire ports. These are necessary to make hip hop beats because they will enable you to connect your MIDI controller (piano/keyboard) to your computer.

2. Buy a MIDI keyboard or controller

Purchase a MIDI controller or full MIDI keyboard online or from a local music store. These days, you can get a full-featured keyboard for as little as 0-0 which will do all that you need it to do to make hip hop beats.

3. Buy music production software.

Purchase music productions software such as Fruity Loops, Reason, Cubase, Logic, etc. This software will enable you to:

- Load sounds which can be played through your MIDI controller or keyboard

- Record these sounds into the program so they can be edited and arranged

- Program sounds into sequencers with the click of a mouse

- Import downloaded sound expansions to keep your hip hop beats up to date

4. Installation and Setup

Now that you have what you need to get started making hip hop beats, it is time to set it up.

First, install your production software onto your computer. This should be a relatively straightforward process, with full walk through instructions provided by the software.

Next, install your MIDI controller drivers. Again, there should be an installation CD which comes with your keyboard that will easily install your keyboard software.

Once both are installed, open your music production software program. Look for the program's Options, Preferences, or Setup section, and locate the MIDI Controller or Keyboard Setup. Locate your installed keyboard and select it for use with the program.

Your software and keyboard should now work with one another.

5. Load sounds. play sounds, record sounds.

Now that everything is set up, you can begin to make hip hop beats on your computer. Depending on your software, there are different ways to load sounds into it. Please check your manual to determine this, as every program is different.

Once loaded, you will be able to play the selected sounds with your MIDI controller.

When you click the "Record" button, everything that you play on your keyboard will be recorded as MIDI data into the software program. You can then edit it, change it, move it, arrange it, etc.

Once you become good at the recording process, you can begin to make hip hop beats and full songs right in your software program! Add drums, piano, guitar, or anything else you wish. A lot of these kinds of sounds can be loaded into your keyboard from your software program.

I hope this article has helped you to begin your journey to make hip hop beats!

Music History - Hip Hop, Rap, R&B

,
MAKE HIP HOP BEATS :

In the early 1970s, the cultural movement of hip hop music was born. Hip hop's fast paced music style is made of two parts; the rhythmic delivery of rap and the use ofinstrumentation by a DJ. Hip hop music also brought with it a fashion of its own, the fashion helped to represent this newly created music.

Music History - Hip Hop, Rap, R&B

Hip hop music has its roots from West African music and African-American music. The first rap song to be put onto a vinyl record was, "Rapper's Delight", a song by the Sugarhill Gang back in the 1970s. This is when block parties started becoming the norm in New York City, which gave hip hop and rap the chance to explode in popularity. Hip hop's instrumentation came from funk, R&B, and disco, when combined together make this dynamic type of music. When the DJs at these block parties learned what the people liked, they began mixing these vinyl records and created music that played continuously with amazing transitions between
songs. Hip hop was actually created by a DJ named Kool Herc, a Jamaican that had moved to the United States with a style that consisted of mixing music by using two copies of the same record. Many of the poor Jamaican's in the town could not afford vinyl records, so huge stereo systems were set up so that many could here the rhythmic beats. These stereo systems were the kick-off for the beginning of the
evolution of block parties. So with the musical talent of these amazing DJs, with the use of vinyl record mixing, the culture of hip hop and rap music was born.

History of R & B

R&B, which stands for Rhythm and Blues, was the greatest influence on music around the world for most of the 20th century's second-half. Rhythm and Blues is a term with a broad sense, but typically recognizing black-pop music. This type of music was introduced to the world by artists' combining the music styles of jazz and blues. R&B is actually what was later developed into what we know as rock and roll. In the 1970s, the term R&B was being used to describe soul and funk music styles, which today we know it describes Rhythm and Blues. Along with being influenced by jazz and blues, R&B also had influences from gospel and disco music. Disco's downturn in the 1980s opened the door for R&B to truly take-off in popularity.

How to Make Professional Rap Beats in FL Studio in 4 Steps

,
MAKE HIP HOP BEATS :

There are many factors that need to be taken into account if you wish to be successful at creating professional, industry standard beats in FL Studio. In this article I will touch on the key factors that you will need to master and this is what separates the pros from the amateurs when producing hot rap beats.

How to Make Professional Rap Beats in FL Studio in 4 Steps

Where to Start

Some people have a preference in what instrument they first want to layout when producing beats in FL Studio. Some prefer the melody, some prefer the bass line and some prefer the drums. No answer to this is wrong or right, and it is mostly a matter of opinion, but for starters I will recommend laying out a good drum pattern first.

Before we get started, set your BPM (beats per minute) to something between 85 and 95.

Creating the Drum Pattern

First, search through your sounds for a nice, hard-hitting kick sample. In the example that we're going to create, you'll want to try to find a kick sound that hits hard but does not contain a lot of low-end sub bass (this will make it easier to mix with the bass later). Once you have found a good drum kick sound, fill in the steps on the step sequencer of where you would like the kick to be heard. Now, right-click on the sound in the step sequencer and select "Send to piano roll." This will put your drum kick pattern in the piano roll where you will want to adjust your velocity. Velocity is what gives the sound a human feel and not so robotic. Technically, velocity is to adjust how hard something is hit, or how hard a string is plucked, a piano key is pressed, etc. Play with this a little bit until your drum kick pattern starts to sound more human and natural.

Next, find a hi-hat sound that you like and again, click the steps where you want the hi-hat to be. Generally, every other note on the step sequencer is a good place to start. Now, do the same thing that you did with the kick sound and send the channel to the piano roll and adjust the velocity. This is even more important on the hi-hat than it is with the kick.

Now for the snare drum(s). I usually like to layer a few together to get the sound just right. I usually like a tight and hard-hitting sound, so I might mix a clap sound with a rim shot and then take 2 different traditional snare hits and turn the level down a little bit on those and then pan one to the right and one to the left at about 35%. For starters, you'll want to put your snare drum on every 4th step in the step sequencer.

Now, you can add more personal touch if you want using the same techniques already mentioned. Feel free to throw in a cowbell, tambourine, cymbal, etc.

Creating the Bass Line

In most hip hop, a low bass sound is used so really all it provides is power and thump and possibly a catchy tune that helps to "glue" the drum sounds together with the rest of the instruments. Choose a low bass sound that will give a good rumble when being bumped, and if there is too much high-end frequency to the sound then you can always cut it out with proper EQ or low-pass filter. I usually like to have the bass frequency set at 50 to 75hz and have the kick set at about 85 to 90 hz. You can also do this in reverse (have the kick lower frequency than the bass). The most important thing is that they don't both occupy the SAME frequency space. This is where most amateur beat makers struggle. It can take a lot of practice to mix the drum kick and the bass line together so that they don't sound weird or cause distortion when they're on top of each other. This will probably be the last thing that you master when learning to make beats because it can take precise EQ and compression to make it sound crisp and professional.

When writing the bass melody, start out simple. Choose a note scale that you want to use and stay within that scale. If you don't know music theory, start out by researching scales and pick one at random. Next, put a blank sound (use a sampler channel, or just turn the volume all the way down on the sound) in your step sequencer in fruity loops. Right click it and open the piano roll. Fill in all the notes in that scale, in every octave, and drag the edge of them so that they show up for the whole duration of the full pattern. Now, open the piano roll for your bass and click the little piano icon in the top left corner of the window. Select view > Ghost Channels. Now every note in the scale will be highlighted gray and you know to stay in these notes while writing your melody. This is a tip you really don't want to ignore because it can help you a lot!

Writing the Main Melody

First, choose your instrument. Let's pick something simple like a piano. Write a melody that goes along with the bass line. Sometimes you can copy your same bass line but then add more notes in between (remember I said to keep your bass line simple). If you have researched some music theory, you should use some chords here and there and use some type of chord progression. Remember to stay in the scale and always view Ghost Channels to make sure you're in the scale in you're unsure. If you want to stay simple you can just have the piano playing for the melody, but feel free to select a couple other complimentary instruments and add some accents here and there. Sometimes I like to use something like a violin just to emphasize certain notes or phrases in the melody.

Writing the Hook

The hook is where you can really go wild because it is the most climactic part of the song. You still want to stay in the correct scale of course, but you can add lots of strings and other instruments. You should either elaborate on the normal verse melody and make it more complex or you should write a totally new melody in the same scale. Remember to try to picture it with vocals on top of it and try to add things that will compliment a finished product / song.

How to Make Hip Hop Beats - 10 Easy Steps

,
MAKE HIP HOP BEATS :

When you're just starting out how to make beats it can be fun and frustrating at the same time. Trust me I was there. But it really is easier then you think. If you're making a beat here are 10 tips that will get yo stated.

How to Make Hip Hop Beats - 10 Easy Steps

1. Pick a style- Know the style of beat you want to make before you start making it. Like rnb, rap, pop, etc. There have been plenty of beats that I made and could not figure out what style it was.

2. Pick A Major Artist- Think of a known artist that you would want to make the beat for. Like if you chose a style a rap, think now what rap artist do you want to make the beat for. Try to imagine that artist on your beat. This will make your hip hop beat-making experience a whole lot easier.

3. Listen To Their Song- Take a listen to the rap artist you are making the beat for songs. See the style. Get a feel for the kind of hip hop beats the artist raps over.

4. Formatting The Song- Very important. formatting is, the intro, verse, chorus, verse, bridge, etc. That's all it is but basically you just change the order around however you feel like it. Turn on the radio and see how your favorite artist formats there song. When instruments come in, when they drop out. The most basic form to start with is, 2 or 4 bar intro, 16 bar verse, 8 bar chorus, 16 bar verse, 8bar chorus, 16 bar verse, 8 bars chorus. This is the most basic beat-making song format. This is very common in rap. If you want an even simpler way, you can create an 8 bar loop and keep it the same throughout the whole song. I have seen this done a lot.

5. Laying down the beat- I have learned that for starters, it's easier to start with the drums. Kick, Snare, Hi hat, are always a good start. Record a pattern for four bars with those first. Then layer that with maybe some toms, cow-bell, symbols, etc. Whatever you want to use. THE DRUMS ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT IN MAKING HIP HOP BEATS! Your drums must hit and hit HARD. The best way to get your drums hitting hard is by not using "pitty pat" free kits you downloaded from the internet for free. If your drums are weak, then your beat is going to be weak.

6. Laying Down A Melody- This is where most hip hop beat-makers have the most trouble. Because most eat makers can't play the keys. For starters, you might want to learn basic keyboard skills. The major thing you need to learn are, major and minor scales. After you learn that, try and do different combinations and patterns with the drum beat you have made. Use an instrument like, a lead guitar, horns, clav, something that will stand out. Your melody can be however you want it, but for starters, you could do a 4 bar melody, or an 8 bar melody.

7. Layering The Beat- What is done a lot in beat making is layering. If you have your whole beat finished. You can go and make it sound bigger by layering. All you do is fill in some gaps, do the same pattern you did with one instrument with another instrument. Do this throughout your beat. This will make you beat sound a lot fatter.

8. Pan- Panning is basically having an instrument all the way to the right, all the way to the left, and anywhere in between. You pan for all kinds of different reasons. It gives each track its own little space in the stereo field. There are no rules for panning, put you have to do it. So just try it out and see what you like best.

9. The Mixdown- Very important! Very Important! Very Important! If you have a poor mix on your beat, then you have pretty much wasted your time. When mixing a beat, start with each track individually. Solo each track and make sure it sounds good by itself. EQ it if you have to, but if each track sounds good by itself, the whole beat will sound that much better. DO NOT DISTORT! If your master levels are in the red before you bounce to disc or .mp3, your distorting. Don't worry about if its not loud enough. You never ever ever want to distort. If you are distorting, check any instrument that has boom or low end, Like a kick, bass, sub, etc. these tend to distort more often.

10. The Bounce- Now that you made you're beat, Its the hottest hip hop beat ever, you want to put it on cd or upload it to the internet. When you're exporting a beat for cd, Use .wav file. 44.1 16bit. If you want to upload to the internet use, 320kbps (the highest .mp3 quality) or 128kbps. Most websites wont accept 320kbps because the file size is too big. So go with 128kbps.

These are all just guidelines to help you get started. There are millions of ways to make a beat, But this is just to help you get your feet wet if you don't know where to start.

World Star Hip Hop - The Best Place to Get Hip Hop Information

,
MAKE HIP HOP BEATS :

If you are a serious hip hop music fan and need to find a place where you can catch up on all the latest hip hop action, then you want to check World Star Hip Hop. This website is designed with hip hop fans in mind and provides them music videos and entertainment that is geared toward the 'urban community'. With news, videos, music and more, this is comprehensive website for all of your hip hop needs.

World Star Hip Hop - The Best Place to Get Hip Hop Information

Videos seem to be a big attraction for people and World Star Hip Hop has plenty of them. They have a searchable database collection that you connect to when you join the site and as a member you will be able to learn about the videos and watch related video content as well. Just imagine how nice it would be to watch all of Jay-Z's videos in one place without having to troll the Internet. You can search the database by video or artist and then watch the result. You can also chat with other users in the attached chat box and make new friends while you enjoy the latest in hip hop.

Currently World Star Hip Hop has over 508,000 fans with 78% of them being in the United States. It is considered a top 5,000 websites and while it is geared towards the urban community as a whole, its main demographic base is African American teen and young adult oriented, leaning slightly towards the ladies. People who enjoy Black Entertainment Television (BET) and shop at stores like Finish Line are most likely to be found frequenting a website such as this, based on the market research done prior to launching the website to the world.

Music videos aren't the only thing showing up on World Star Hip Hop. All types of special interest videos are being mixed into the sites database. There are videos surrounding the current Presidential campaign - not surprising since Democratic candidate Barack Obama is African American - as well as entertainment and general interest videos. The database currently has over 40 pages of videos to look through, and that is before you even join the website to investigate the rest of the content available to members.

The site should definitely not be viewed by children under the age of 18 as there is some very adult content available on it just in the public areas. For example, if you click on the 'WSHH Honey's' link at the top of the home page, you are taken to a web page that displays ladies in all states of undress including their videos showing why they should be considered a 'WSHH Honey'. There are even instructions on the World Star Hip Hop site on how to submit your own video.

What is interesting to note is that while World Star Hip Hop is a membership site, it doesn't seem to be any links on how to join. When you run your mouse over the website and text that talks about membership, it does not give you an option to click and join.

From Panama to the Top of the Charts: The Story and Roots of Reggaeton Music

,
MAKE HIP HOP BEATS :

Although today it's one of the hottest styles of music around these days, the story of reggaeton music goes way back to a variety of music genres. These genres range from reggae and dancehall to Latin American styles including bomba, bachata and salsa. It has also been influenced greatly by rap/hip-hop and R & B.

From Panama to the Top of the Charts: The Story and Roots of Reggaeton Music

The style of reggaeton dates back to the country of Panama in the 1970s. At that time, Jamaican reggae started to influence the language and culture of the nation. These early artists gave the Jamaican style a distinctive latin-sounding beat. Meanwhile, Puerto Rico in the 1980s was a site of a related movement. A group of hip hop artists lead by Vico C began to combine reggae into their songs. Caribbean and African-American music was becoming a significant influence in the country during that time. Over the next few years, this trend would radically grow. It wasn't too long until a new genre was formed: a combination of the Panamanian-influenced reggae, but with a strong influence of electronic music. The traditional Latin American sounds mentioned previously were also a key factor to this emerging musical style.

Then, in 1991, the musician Shabba Ranks came up with a song called Dem Bow. Although it wasn't clear at the time, this song would come to have a major influence on the development of the genre. You still here it today to refer to the pounding snare-drum heavy sound that is characteristic of reggaeton. A couple of years later, the name reggaeton was used for the first time, new artists began to make it extremely popular in several Latin American countries.

A second wave of reggaeton artists were responsible for breaking into the market of the USA. Once they did, it did not take long to achieve widespread popularity. Today popular artists including Wisin y Yandel, Don Omar, Rakim y Ken-y, Daddy Yankee and many more have topped the charts and cemented reggaeton's reputation as an incredibly popular fusion genre that's here to stay.

In addition to being a musical force of its own, some of these reggaeton artists have collaborated with other, more mainstream artists to bring even more attention to the genre. Daddy Yankee recorded a song Gangsta Zone with Snoop Dogg; Wisin y Yandel collaborated with 50 Cent on Mujeres en el Club; Dom Omar created Conteo alongside Juelz Santana; and the same Wisin y Yandel also recorded a track with R&B singer T-Pain. In the future, we can expect many more of these exciting collaborations, and for reggaeton music to continue to become more and more popular.

Ibiza Dance Music - A History of Dance Music in Ibiza

,
MAKE HIP HOP BEATS :

Music centers can break out in the must unlikely places. Take the small Balearic Island of Ibiza, for example. When people think of island vacations, they likely picture sandy beaches, rolling waves, and drinking cool beverages under the hot sun. In other words, they dream about enjoying the great outdoors.

Ibiza Dance Music - A History of Dance Music in Ibiza

However, it's the great indoors, instead, that makes Ibiza a coveted destination for dance music aficionados all over the world.

Much like latter day world explorers, hippies arrived in Ibiza in the '60s, bringing with them musical styles not yet heard in Spain. And in 1973, Pacha Ibiza, the island's first pivotal club, began to attract music-loving night owls. Soon after, rising musicians from around the globe were flocking to this sonic melting pot, and eventually many other popular night spots took root, including Es Paradis and Amnesia.

In the '90s, dance music began to evolve at a rapid rate, similar to the way the internet and personal computers started fast-forwarding our culture into its brave new future. And when the electronic dance movement started to take shape via house, trance, techno and other keyboard and computerized styles, DJs in the Ibiza club scene took on the role of turntablest agents of change. There's even a genre named after the island, called Balearic Beat, and this indigenous Ibiza music is notable for its strong grooves, which are mixed in with distinctly Spanish influences.

One of Ibiza's best known performers is Jens Gad, who was featured prominently on Enigma's recordings. Tiësto, another Ibiza regular, was the first DJ to perform at the Athens Summer Olympic Games in 2004. Paul van Dyk may be from East Berlin, but his electronic dance music always goes over extremely in Ibiza. John Digweed regularly performs at hot spots, such as Space, and hosts his own radio show, Transitions. Other notable DJs include Above and Beyond, who are appreciated for their uplifting trance sounds, also host the radio show Trance Around the World and have had residencies at Cream, A&B, and others. Markus Schulz is also from Germany, and like many of his DJ contemporaries, hosts his own radio show, which is called Global DJ Broadcast.

Ibiza is more than just a DJs paradise, however, as nearly any and all musical varieties are now openly welcomed there. It's so eclectic in fact many clubs designate rooms solely for certain musical styles, which range from Latin and garage, to R&B and hip-hop. Live music is also alive and well in the Ibiza calendar, as Kaiser Chiefs, The Arctic Monkeys, and Kasabian have all made notable island ventures, brandishing electric guitars, instead of turntables and various electronic wizardry. Much like major creative cities, such as New York, London, and Los Angeles, Ibiza attracts visitors from around the world. These other major metropolises may dwarf the island, size-wise, but Ibiza's adventurous sense of experimentation makes it just as important as any other music capital. Those with ears to hear that want to explore the great indoors must put Ibiza on their travel itinerary.

How To Buy Hip Hop Beats For Sale On The Internet - Things To Know Before You Buy

,
MAKE HIP HOP BEATS :

It has become ever so popular for independent recording artists and producers to buy and sell beats online. With this trend comes a lot of traffic from inexperienced artists trying to buy beats online. An inexperienced buyer will easily over pay for a beat online. This article was written from personal experience in hopes of giving some insight, not as a hard set of rules to follow, but a guide. Listed below are things beat buyers should know and understand when buying beats online.

How To Buy Hip Hop Beats For Sale On The Internet - Things To Know Before You Buy

Understand The INTRINSIC Value Of Hip Hop Beats And Rap Beats

You can't touch, bend, break, fold, or smell rap beats. For that matter, you can't even see them, yet in the music industry, we see them being sold for hundreds of thousands of dollars. Oh ... but you can hear and fell vibrations from beats, can't you. This kind of makes music like the wind, so I guess it's fair to say the music industry is selling "air"... not really, but hopefully you get my point. It's not the price of the beat but the producer or person you are buying it from.

The actual value of a beat or music is based on an underlying perception of its true value, perception being the keyword. Don't rip yourself off by buying a beat online for 0 if the producer has no credibility or his or her image and stature in the music industry doesn't give value to your demo or album sales. Look at what Brittany Spears did on her latest album, take note of the album credits and all the popular "Producer Powers" employed, essentially playing a major part in her attempt to revive her career.

Some Internet Beat Pricing Standards And Averages

The average rate on the Internet for a "Non-Exclusive" beat license is - . With this type of license you are essentially leasing or renting the beat for a given amount of time or copies. The average for an "Exclusive" beat license is from around - 0. This type of license gives you full ownership of the beat, as if you created it yourself. More popularly noted as "work for hire". Note: Some exclusive licenses may restrict resale.

Try To Contact The Producer Before You Buy

To get the most for your money, and protect yourself from "beat-jackers" (people who steal other peoples beats and resell them) try to contact the producer first to see if he or she is responsive, email or PM seems to be the best method. Don't just buy beats from "Joe Blow" without making some kind of contact first. Trust me, real beat makers who are truly vested in their craft make themselves available and they'll be happy to hear from you (it builds their ego) and will more than likely work a deal out with you if you buy more than one beat from them. If a seller takes more than two days to respond, keep it moving. There are literally thousands of other producers who will stop at the drop of a hat to make a sale in hopes of repeat business and a little recognition. Try starting off with producers that you see are already selling beats to others on the net or have their beats rated high or "Hot". Obviously they are doing something right and they are more than likely satisfying other beat buyers needs.

Get It In Writing

When you buy beats online, make sure there is some type of printable licensing agreement associated with the beat you buy. A licensing agreement/contract will explain the rights you have with the beats and the terms under which you may use the beat.

Cheap Exclusive Beat

Cheap exclusive beats are the best deals to get but there are very few producers out there who are willing to sell you an exclusive beat from to . Check out thebeattrader for some of those type deals. There are not a lot of producers on that site and understandably so, but the site became very popular for selling low priced exclusive beats a few years ago.

Cheap Non-Exclusive Beats

The next best thing is a low priced non-exclusive. Remember, the catch with non-exclusive beats is that the beat may have been sold several other times before you buy it, so if you are looking for fresh music, make a list of the producers you like on a site and watch their profiles. Good experienced online producers know to cycle out old beats and update their profiles with new beats at least every 2-3 days.

I'd say a fair price to pay for a non-exclusive beat is about . There is an abundant amount of producers selling beats online right now who would fight for your business. Online producers are almost a dime a dozen so it's really easy nowadays to get unique music for your mix-tape, demo, or album at and very affordable price.

Happy Beat Buying!

Don't Ignore the Small Acts!

,
MAKE HIP HOP BEATS :

I was super psyched when I got tickets to see The Roots at the Hollywood Bowl last Sunday night. Personally, I would say The Roots are easily one of my favorite bands. The genius of Questlove's beats, and their jazzy, innovative approach to hip hop with live instrumentals makes them one of the best bands to see live these days in my opinion. Needless to say, I was looking forward to getting that actual experience that I could almost feel the moment I got those tickets.

Don't Ignore the Small Acts!

However when I got to the Bowl, the concert was not anything near the sick bass lines, jamming beats that I expected from The Roots. The performance was inspired by the late poet Langston Hughes' poems, Ask Your Mama: 12 Moods for Jazz. The concert featured a opera singer paired with jazz from the Roots, and classical music from the LA Philharmonic, and other singers, which did not mix well for the summer jam I expected. Although, Questlove love stole the show in one movement where he had a 5 minute solo. In the twelve movements, you could also hear Hughes speak many of his poems which went well with the music. Composer Laura Karpman explains, it's "Creating a piece of music that crosses genres, Jazz, Classical, Hip-Hop - to see all of them interact together in a meaningful way, is transformative." The concert was more educational, and metaphorical than jammable, with lyrics centered around race, the black movement, and struggles in America. Although I found the concert interesting and artistically successful in portraying poetry through the sounds of the music, it was not what I wanted to see.

One thing I learned Sunday night is to not be so quick to go to a concert based on preconceived notions. (Not to dismiss that The Roots are great live, they are). Some of the best concerts I have seen have been at small, lowkey venues with unknown artists, who perform amazing live. I think The Roots still honor this concept of playing small close venues as well, however. The Roots play in "jam" style setting, every so often in NYC, for a small audience of about 100, for a 10 dollar cover charge. They still understand and appreciate the concept of a small gig atmosphere.

But the larger point is that just going to familiar, mainstream shows is not always a winner. Often, you will come to hear a certain song, and the artist won't even end up playing it, leaving you disappointed. Some of the best live music experiences are from new small artists you know not much about.

I am not saying that I won't be going to those big concerts with huge expectations in the future, but I think we all need to remind ourselves of discovering those raw unadulterated shows every now and again.

The Top Rap and Hip Hop Songs of 2009

,
MAKE HIP HOP BEATS :

This years songs will transform you to successful artist, and have you crawling to the Empire state building to be the number one. Then they will drop those papers on you and have you asking is it time to break up. So as you listen to these top hip hop and rap songs of 2009, relax and enjoy 2010.

The Top Rap and Hip Hop Songs of 2009

Chris Brown - Crawl

This song crawl had my wife saying maybe Chris Brown is trying to apologize to all his women fans for the situation that happen between him and Rihanna. The song is personal to him by the way he sounds and the lyrics he belch out. This is one of my favorite make up songs of modern times.

Chris Brown, Swizz Beats, and Lil Wayne - I Can Transform Ya

Chris dropped this hard hitting all black wearing song and video with a vengeance. I was shocked to see him in all black with the grunge look. He and the other artist ripped this song up, I believe this was suppose to drop with the movie transformers: rise of the fallen, but because of the little situation things got pushed back. This would have been the song of the year, but will be reduced to just that a song.

Jay Z and Alicia Keys - Empire state of Mind

Jay Z and Alicia Keys did an outstanding job of putting New York back on the map with this great song, it's almost up there with New York New York by old blue eyes, Frank Sinatra. So many people were singing this song and those from NY were proud to have it on the radio. Some artists were so proud that when Jay Z and Alicia performed live Little Moe got on stage and posed with them. Wow if only they made a song about Chicago "Security Kanye is not to enter the room".

Jay Z, Rihanna, and Kanye West - Run this Town

Run this town was a hit and used at my youth football teams homecoming, my son fell on the field as they ran on. That song made you want to pump your fist and work harder to show how good you are doing your workout. This song will be a hit in the near future, and once teams start listening to these lyrics the song will be played in heavy rotation in a lot of ball parks.

Drake and Trey Songz - Successful

I didn't know who this Drake guy was until this summer when I was at a barbecue and my brother -in-law played the raw version of the song. You should have seen the look on the grown folks face when it happens. He quickly put on the clean version and the party kept going. This song is the one that put him on the chart and made him successful in a lot of artists and fans eyes.

50 Cent and Ne-Yo - Baby by me

When I heard this song I said this guy is crazy, I can't have a baby by you fifty it's impossible I am a man. But for real he is telling women the truth, have a baby by him and the child support will be rolling in. Thou this song is catchy it is telling a true story, I hope tigers wife is listening to this one right now, because she will be a millionaire, if not already.

Usher - Papers

Tiger this song goes out to you, for all the other women you slept with because your wife was giving you too much drama. Usher blast his ex in this drama made for radio. He should have listened to everyone around him, so he says in his lyrics. Tiger see 50 cents baby by me.

R Kelly and Keri Hilson - Number One

Back on the scene fresh from county jail is R Kelly with this great song called Number One. He popped back on the scene like he never left and with a cool laid back song. His co artist on this album holds her own, reminds me the duet he did with Sparkle.

Mario and Gucci Man - Break Up

The kids love this song as I play it in the car, you can hear them in the back seat saying "Gucci you don't love me". This song is a car song, that will have your granny bobbing her head. The man is asking the woman why you leaving me, and she replies you don't love me.

New Boys and Ray J - Tie me down

Ray J is the perfect person to sing the hook on this song, with his show and all the nice looking women on it he is not ready to be tied down. This new group is definitely going to be hot in the future, the lyrics are strong, and true, well some of it. I am sure he is talking about a committed relationship and not the rope in the closet tie down.

Why Use Hip Hop Samples and Loops?

,
MAKE HIP HOP BEATS :

Whether you use FL Studio, ProTools, DubTurbo or any other music production software, you will be familiar with the loops and samples pre loaded with your software. Yes these are good for beginners, as they give you some set sounds to use when producing your first tracks and beats. However after a while, you will be wanting to update your sound library in order to stay ahead of the game, and stand out from the crowd.

Why Use Hip Hop Samples and Loops?

Most novice producers do not know the difference between a drum loop, and a drum sample. In the Hip Hop game this is very important. Especially if you are looking into updating your sound library and want to know what you are getting.

A drum loop is an audio sound that will usually run for anywhere between 1 and 4 bars. Consisting of several different sounds, all combined together to create drumming sound. As if you have just recorded a drummer playing in the studio, performing a certain beat.

A Drum sample on the other hand is these separate sounds that we piece together to make a drum loop from nothing. Most producers will usually load these effects into a sampler of some sort. For example a keyboard. Which we can then use to trigger various drum effects as we wish. Creating our own custom beats.

So Drum loops are basically preset drum tracks. Even though they are stuck on a preset rhythm. We can still alter the tempo to our personal preference. Where as a drum sample is the loop broken down into smaller parts and you can alter it how you like, and create whatever you want with it.

There are many different loops and samples available to purchase or download. Both free and paid for. In my experience you can find some good free downloads on the net. But so many people use these, it will be hard to find something unique and that stands out from the crowd. If you want the highest quality sounds. Which is a factor to take seriously if you want to be big in the music industry. Then you need to make sure the files you import are of.wav type. Using fresh and new effects will help make your beats & tracks the best they can be. Having abstract sounds, will help grab listeners attention and can make sure your creations are the next big thing.

Making Beats at Home - It's So Easy Anyone Can Do It

,
MAKE HIP HOP BEATS :

From just your home computer, you can make beats & instrumentals yourself, record your vocals, and end up with a pretty good quality finished recording of your song. No longer do you need to resort to finding studios & producers to produce beats for you, and help you in recording your own music onto a demo cd. You can do everything yourself, you just have to learn how.

Making Beats at Home - It's So Easy Anyone Can Do It

Making beats is easy, and a lot of people are starting to learn how to do it. Soulja Boy learned how to produce his own beats using Fruity Loops in just one summer, and was able to make himself into a rap superstar. Anyone who has a computer can learn to make beats at home, but not everyone is doing it. Why? Most people think the process is hard, but it actually isn't as hard as most people think. Anyone who is passionate enough about their music can look up video tutorials on the internet that teach you how to make your own beats at home.

The idea of creating your own digital albums to put up on iTunes & making
rap beats to sell online is gaining popularity really fast. More & more people seem to be buying equipment to create their very own home recording & production studios. Since a large number of people are working on their very own digital music right this very minute, the next hit song you hear on the radio could very well have been created by someone you know!

Bose Quiet Comfort 15 Vs Dr Dre Monster Beats

,
MAKE HIP HOP BEATS :

Everyone wants top quality headphones to listen to their music, either on the go, work, or at home. Bose Quiet Comfort 15 and Dr. Dre Monster Beat headphones are two of top wireless headphones in today's industry, but which one is better? One is made by one of the best sound companies and the other is made by the legendary producer and rapper, Dr. Dre, of the hip hop industry, who would surely know things about how one would want their music to sound like.

Bose Quiet Comfort 15 Vs Dr Dre Monster Beats

Sound Quality

In the previous series of the Bose Quiet Comfort wireless headphones the sound quality was not that great at all, but the Qc15 is major improvement, with microphones on the inside and the outside of the cup to tremendously improve the sound and it also prevents outside noises that would distort the sound. The Monster Beat headphones have great sound too but they do not have the technology of the QC15 to block out the outside distraction of other sounds.

Comfort

The Monster Beats are not really that comfortable nor are they that flexible or bendable as QC15, which basically means that they are easier to break. The QC15 have around the ear-fit- cups that adjust to anyone's ear, making it easy to relax and just listen to your music or movie, they are foldable and come with a case so that you can protect your headphones, which causes you to worry less if you're going to break them.

Price

Price is everyone's major concern when it comes to buying the product even if the cheapest product is the one with the worse quality. I know that I have bought countless numbers of cheap headphones that only last me for a year or two. Both of these are both pricey pieces of equipment. The QC15 is about a hundred dollars cheaper than the MB, and they are well worth the price.

So the winner is... drum rolls... The "Bose Quiet Comfort 15"!

Of' course, there is the possibility of creating your own genre, but before jumping head long into the water it is better to test the water with your toe. Once you are more comfortable, you can move on to creating your own genres. So first decide on a genre that you love and are comfortable with. Remember, a work that is well begun in half complete. Then decide on what will make that genre special and alluring. Once this ground work is done, you are ready to roll.

Creating your beats:

There are three crucial steps that need to be followed for creating a beat in any genre. They include

· Creating a baseline · Creating the audio loops · Laying out the midi drum patterns.

Creating the baseline is the integral step in any beat creation process, because this lays the foundation. This is the skeleton upon which the other aspects of your music will revolve about. So make sure that the baseline is built to your satisfaction. Moreover this baseline is the sequence that will be played more often in a repeating loop and you will want to make sure that something that is played repeatedly is pleasing and alluring to the ears.

Audio loops form a primary component in genres like rap and hip hop. To create the audio loops, you can use whatever instrument your creativity demands. Besides you can also add a lot of special effects to transform the mood and the tone of the music. You can compress, stretch and create a plethora of other such effects with Dub Turbo and improve the nuances of your music composition. Once you have created your first audio loop, you can add many other audio loops as you wish. After the first audio loop is done, creating the other audio loops will not be as time-consuming as the first one.

Then we have the midi drum patterns. You can use as many and as varied midi drum patterns as you wish, but make sure that you don't make the final effect a discordant cacophony. They can be set in a pattern of a group of unique notes and can be made to play as a secondary baseline.

Once these three components are created to the best of your ability and creativity, your first beat is all ready to rock!
